Danny and Ellie’s Story

Danny and Ellie are parents to an 8-year old son. Their son is severely autistic but was in mainstream school, which was unable to support his needs. He was very dysregulated, kept separate from his peer group and did very little learning on a limited timetable of three mornings a week. The family’s practitioner spent several months working with them and the school to get an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) in place.

During this time Danny and Ellie’s son was excluded from the mainstream school due to his destructive and violent behaviour. He has now been offered a place in a Special School and is settled on a full timetable, has friends and learning. He is excelling in maths and reading, and challenging behaviour is much improved, both in school and home.
