RESIDENTIAL WEEKEND FOR FSW FAMILIES

FSW recently took 12 families for a residential weekend break at the Dalesdown conference centre near Horsham. This is the first time the charity has been able to offer family breaks, since the closure of our own residential facilitiy, Knowles Tooth in 2014.
The Dalesdown weekend provided a very welcome respite for families with stressful home circumstances. There was ample space for children to play outdoors and indoors, including an on-site adventure trail and sports hall. Parents/carers were able to relax and talk to one another, easing their isolation. In the evening, FSW’s workers organised a Dalesdown’s Got Talent competition and a campfire with marshmallow-toasting.
The families tell us they benefitted greatly and FSW is currently fundraising to take another 12 families to Dalesdown in August.
