Many of us try to give something up for Lent, but this year we are inviting you to take something on, a practical challenge to support families across the Sussex.
At a time when love, compassion, and practical help are needed more than ever, FSW is inviting our supporters to take on one thing to support families and children.
Churches across the Diocese can support families in simple, meaningful ways:
Hold a retiring collection to support mothers across Sussex.
Invite parishioners to share a simple meal together, with donations supporting the work of Family Support Work.
Individuals can also make a powerful difference this Lent:
FSW runs a charity shop that is always in need of good-quality clothing and household items. Put aside one item each day throughout Lent and donate them when Lent ends.
Save small change throughout Lent. Did you know that if everyone on the Diocesan Electoral Roll saved, for example, just 10p a day for the 40 days of Lent, FSW could raise around £160,000 to support families? When we work together, small actions can make a really big difference. To order a lent box from us please email fundraising@familysupportwork.org.uk.
Would you like to make this “one more thing” a lasting commitment? Across Sussex there are local groups that support FSW by volunteering with families and raising funds. By getting involved, you can help make a long-term difference for families who need support now more than ever.
Last year, Family Support Work supported over 800 families across the Diocese. Our work ranges from help with simple form-filling to support with complex challenges, including mental health needs and Special Educational Needs.
