Celebrating National Volunteers Week

1st Jun 2018

Today marks the start of National Volunteers’ Week. Here at FSW we are lucky enough to have the support of hundreds of volunteers across Sussex. Our volunteers support us in so many ways:

  • Helping our Family Support Practitioners to run after-school clubs, drop-in groups, holiday activities and one-to-one intensive support;
  • Deanery Committees, comprised of nearly 150 dedicated people, who fundraise for FSW, talk about our work in their local communities and support our organisational-wide activities;
  • Volunteers who sort and pack the donations we receive to the foodbank and charity shop, and list items on eBay;
  •  and our wonderful Board of Trustees, who all donate their time, skills and expertise freely to help us be as focussed and strategic as possible in our decision-making and delivery.

Last year we received over 11,000 hours of volunteer support which enabled us to provide an even better service to the families we work with. This week we’ll be sharing news, stories and photos about our volunteers across Facebook and Twitter and joining the national celebrations for the often unsung heroes of the charity world.
